Marine Sharpshooter 3 If nothing else, Marine Sharpshooter 3 lives up to its billing. You play a marine. You do a lot of sharpshooting. And that's about it. The box-cover blurb claims that this franchise has sold over a million copies, but it's hard to see how a game this dumb and derivative could ever develop a fan base. While the game isn't horrific looking, and there is a lot of shooting going on, all you do is stalk through linear levels sniping everything that moves. Retro shooter fans might enjoy this monotonous killing for an hour or so, then look for the uninstall icon. |

God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP)One of the nice things about the game industry is that it doesn’t take 10 years for a developer to earn respect. Great games don’t happen accidentally — there’s simply too much involved behind the scenes. If a developer’s good, it’s good, and it gets the credit. So when Daxter hit PSP last March and cemented itself as the system’s best platformer, startup Ready At Dawn instantly earned a loyal fanbase. |

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (PC) With the gruesome T-Virus finally dormant, Jill Valentine has resigned from S.T.A.R.S. and is going to leave what's left of Raccoon City. Much to her dismay, her exit has been delayed by the same flesh-eating zombies that plagued her counterparts in the first two games! This time, however, the undead are augmented by bloodthirsty hunters, evil hellhounds, and other terrors of the night. As Jill, you'll meet up with a lot of new faces, and some old ones too. Carlos Olivera, for example, is an Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service Agent that seems to want to help you out; whether you trust him or not is up to you. Each time you meet up with an enemy, you can either confront it or evade it, but your choices all add up in this immersing tale of terror. Of course, you do have some pretty powerful ammo to back you up, and the game even lets you combine weapons to make your own firepower. The third installment in the popular RESIDENT EVIL series, this one boasts improved graphics, sound, and overall gameplay. Hidden at the end of the adventure is a bonus Mercenaries game but you'll be lucky if you live to see it. Fans of previous Resident Evil games will like it, but those who have yet to enter the world of survival-horror would do better to start with Resident Evil 2. |
